Description
‘Cerise Charm’ is a truly compact dwarf Loropetalum boasting intense deep burgundy-purple to burgundy-red foliage year-round with no reversion to green, even in the unforgiving heat of the Southeast. Hot pink fringe flowers in spring are a stunning contrast to the foliage. After flowering, bright red new leaves emerge that deepen in color as they mature. Forms a dense mound 2 to 4 feet high and wide, depending on pruning, which makes it a perfect selection where a low shrub is needed in home foundation plantings and landscape borders. This drought tolerant and low maintenance shrub is sure to provide rich color and charm in the sunny or shady landscape!
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 2 to 3 feet tall and wide, depending on pruning, Cerise Charm Loropetalum is ideal for use as an accent, in groupings or mass plantings, or in straight or staggered rows in home foundation plantings and landscape borders. Also excellent for mass planting on slopes, embankments and hillsides. Its low water needs makes it suitable for use in Xeriscape plantings. The year round deep burgundy foliage contrasts nicely with plants that have yellow, green, grey or other lighter colored foliage or flowers.
Suggested Spacing:  2.5 to 3 feet apart for solid hedge or mass planting;  5 to 6 feet or more apart for space between plants

How Many Plants Needed To Cover A Planting Area?
Note:  For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 7a, where this Loropetalum variety is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring. Requires a well-lit space for overwintering indoors.
Growing Preferences
Cerise Charm Loropetalum is very easy to grow in most any average, most but well-drained soil and full sun to part shade. As with so many other ornamental plants, constantly soggy or wet soil can be problematic. So make sure to plant in a well-drained site. When established, plants are exceptionally drought tolerant, requiring little if any supplemental irrigation. Foliage is more dense and deep in color in full sun. Requires no pruning, however responds very well to almost any amount, making it an excellent choice for hedges.
