Description

Hands-down our favorite of all creeping sedums, we grow Coral Reef Sedum all over our gardens! Its adaptability to moist or dry soils and sun or part shade, and its durability are unrivaled among sedums. Coral Reef grows in a very dense evergreen mat to just a few inches high featuring attractive fish scale-shaped succulent leaves that are bright green during the warm season turning to a reddish-bronze color with the arrival of cooler temperatures in winter. During summer the foliage is topped with abundant clusters of yellow star-shaped flowers. Excellent as a durable and dependable long-lived groundcover or as a spiller in container gardens.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 2 to 3 inches tall and spreading to 18 or more inches wide, Coral Reef Sedum is ideal for use as a groundcover plant or as a border along walkways and paths or around patios. Very nice around rocks and boulders or spilling over walls. Also serves nicely as a soil cover or spiller plant in container gardens. A fine addition to rock gardens and succulent gardens.

Growing Preferences

Exceptionally adaptable, Coral Reef Sedum is very easy to grow. In our gardens, it has thrived in lightly moist to dry or even consistently moist soils, which is unusual for a Sedum. In dry, arid climates it will appreciate occasional watering during extended dry periods. It performs equally as well in full or part shade. We suggest at least 4 hours of direct sunlight for best overall performance.
