Description

A stunner in spring, ‘Helen Curtis’ is an evergreen Azalea featuring a profusion of scented double flowers with white petals and a splash of cute yellow-green freckles around the center. Adorable! Dark green leaves on a compact rounded mound to 3 feet tall and equally as wide serve as an excellent backdrop to showcase the bright flowers. Exceptionally cold hardy to -20F, Helen Curtis is an excellent choice as far north as USDA Zone 5a. One of those plants that will always have you looking forward to spring!
Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing to about 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide, the Helen Curtis Azalea is ideal for use as an accent, in groupings, mass plantings or as a low evergreen hedge in partially shaded landscape borders, woodland gardens, and home foundation plantings. Butterflies love the flowers, and blooming branches serve very well for cutting to create stunning indoor floral arrangements. A fine addition to azalea and rhododendron gardens, white theme gardens, butterfly gardens, Asian theme gardens, Zen gardens and cottage gardens.
Spacing:  2.5′ for solid hedges;  6’+ for space between plants
Growing Preferences
The Helen Curtis Azalea is easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained and acidic soil that is rich in organic matter and part sun. Morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sun is ideal. Evening sun is okay as well. Will do fine in full sun in cool-summer climates. Moderate drought tolerance when established.
