Description
For those familiar with the Little Lime Hydrangea, Little Lime Punch is a new addition to the Limelight family with the same compact habit and strong stems but bringing on a whole new color twist. As with Little Lime, the flowers emerge chartreuse, but then start to change color transitioning to light pink and then to punch red. All three colors will display at the same time making for a magnificent flower show all summer long and into fall. The flower clusters are great for cutting and use in fresh or dried floral arrangements.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 3 to 5 feet tall and equally wide, Little Lime Punch is ideal for use as a specimen in smaller spaces and pots where its larger growing L. paniculata cousins won’t fit, or in groupings or as a low hedge in sunny to partially shaded landscape borders. Also nice as an accent in home foundation plantings. A fine addition to Hydrangea gardens, cut flower gardens and cottage gardens.

Growing Preferences
Little Lime Punch Hydrangea can take the heat at our location in mid-Georgia, but is also exceptionally cold hardy, withstanding even the coldest winter temperatures in the North. It is easy to grow in most any soil of average fertility that is moist but well-drained. In northern zones it can be grown in all-day direct sunlight to partial shade. In hot southern zones it will appreciate some filtered sun or shade during the midafternoon. We suggest ay least 5 hours of sun per day for best flowering.
Note: Little Lime Punch is a Hydrangea paniculata species that produces its flowers from buds that are formed on “new wood” (the current season’s growth). This means you don’t want to prune them in late spring or summer when they’re preparing to bloom.Â
