Exceptionally cold hardy to -20 degrees F, ‘Mary Poppins’ Deciduous Azalea is an outstanding selection from the Knaphill Rhododendron series that produces large rounded clusters containing up to 30 delightfully fragrant, brilliant orange-red trumpet flowers with golden highlights. A mesmerizing sight to behold in flower. Adding to the overall appeal, after the flowers comes attractive deep bronze new leaves that mature to a very handsome deep green. We’re not absolutely sure but this selection may be grown in Zone 9 provided there’s ampel shade during the late morning and afternoon hours. The plant itself has a rounded shape 3 to 4 feet tall and equally wide. Plant this magnificent beauty near windows or close to patios, decks and other outdoor living spaces where the flowers and wonderful fragrance can be enjoyed.
