Description
When it comes to flowering trees, there’s simply no others more showy than Crape Myrtles. They bloom for up to 100 days during summer, when there are few other trees and shrubs providing that service in the landscape. Colorful fall foliage and attractive exfoliating bark in winter enhance their overall appeal. It’s no wonder they are so wildly popular among designers and gardeners!
This this is the single trunk tree form version of the ‘Natchez’ Crape Myrtle, a year round color factory and perhaps the most colorful, attractive of all Crape Myrtle trees. For up to 120 days of summer this magnificent tree produces large 12 to 16-inch long clusters of pure white flowers at the ends of long, arching branches that form a wide, umbrella-shape canopy. It has the largest and darkest green leaves of any crape myrtle that provide a nice backdrop for the flowers and turn to colorful shades of gold and yellow during the fall. But perhaps one of the most unique and outstanding characteristic is the cinnamon-red bark, which provides captivating color in the landscape during the winter months and even throughout the rest of the year. When in bloom, the white flowers, deep green leaves and orange-red bark is truly a sight to behold. What’s more, Natchez is a totally mildew resistant Fauriei Hybrid.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 20 to 30 feet tall and 15 to 20 feet wide, the single trunk Natchez Crape Myrtle is ideal for use as a specimen, in groupings, or in straight, curved or staggered rows to line a drive or property line. It grows large enough to provide some welcome shade around patios, decks and other outdoor living spaces. Excellent for framing the corners of homes and other buildings and entryways. We have Natchez framing the main entrance to our property and gardens. A fine addition to white theme gardens, Zen gardens and bird and wildlife gardens.
Suggested Spacing:  25 feet or more apart for space between trees
Growing Preferences
Natchez Crape Myrtle is very easy to grow. It is not picky about soil type provided the soil is well-drained. A moist but well-drained soil of average fertility is preferred. Full sun is preferred and results in heavier flower production. Light shade is tolerated but flowering will be diminished in more shade. As a Faureii Hybrid its foliage is mildew resistant. Established trees are quuite drought tolerant.

My wife has mentioned she prefers single trunk Natchez Crepe Myrtles. Found a 5 gal version at Wilson Bros. I liked the idea that it is shipped in soil, not bare roots. Surprised her for her birthday, got an extra hug too…. lol. She is very happy ! It goes into the ground right after the last frost. We will be back for more.——————————————————Awesome! Hugs are good! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope she enjoys it for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
