Description

The October Magic Orchid Camellia produces LOADS of beautiful, white to blush semi-double flowers with orchid to pink shades on the the petals. Produced in abundance, the blooms are simply stunning against the glossy dark green foliage on semi-dwarf plants that grow to only 4 to 5 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide.
Landscape & Garden Uses
A dense, compact Camellia with an upright habit of growth to about 4 to 5 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide (depending on pruning), October Magic Orchid Camellia is ideal for use as an accent, in groupings, as a hedge or background plant, and is especially nice as espalier (trained to grow flat against a wall) in home foundation plantings and landscape borders. A fine addition to camellia gardens, cottage gardens, cut flower gardens and woodland borders. Also suitable for containers that can be brought indoors overwinter for those who live above USDA Zone 7a, where not winter hardy. Find Your Zone
Suggested Spacing:  3 to 4 feet apart for solid hedge; 8 feet apart for space between plants
Note:  For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 7a, where this Camellia variety is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
Camellia adapt well to various soil types however prefer a moist but well-drained acidic soil that is rich in organic matter. Constantly soggy soil is a slow killer. In general, Camellia grows and blooms better in partial shade with some shelter from the hot afternoon sun. Morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sunlight is perfect. All-day filtered sun is fine.

The shrub arrived loaded with flower buds and looking very healthy. The flowers are a lot smaller than those on the Japonica varieties, but the ombre color from pink to white is very pretty. I look forward to seeing it grow to full size.———————————————————We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
I had never ordered from Wilson Brother’s Gardens before but I was determined to purchase more October Magic Camellia’s. I had purchased a few last year and I am crazy about them but could not find them in our area this year. So I took a leap of faith and ordered 8 after finding them online at Wilson’s Bother’s. I was so impressed with the packing and they arrived extremely healthy looking. I have since planted them and they are starting to bloom! I love how prolific a bloomer these are plus I love the dark green and dense foliage. Another bonus for me is they only grow 4-5 ft tall. These are simply gorgeous (I have the October Magic “Orchid” series) and I would definitely purchase from Wilson Brother’s Gardens again!————————————————We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
