Description
Easy to grow and all the same culinary uses as upright Rosemary but in a spreading form, ‘Prostratus’ has dark green, leathery and very aromatic foliage. Pretty soft lavender-blue flowers are produced in abundance during spring. Excellent for garden beds or in containers.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 18 to 24 inches tall and spreading 4 feet or more, Prostrate Rosemary is ideal for use in groupings or massed as a groundcover in landscape borders and along paths and walkways. The branches spill beautifully over the edges of walls and the containers edge. A fine evergreen addition to herb gardens, Asian gardens, cottage gardens, blue theme gardens, and the Xeriscape (low water needs).
Note:Â Â For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 8a, where this Rosemary plant variety is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
Prostrate Rosemary is easy to grow in most any somewhat loose and moist to somewhat dry soil of average fertility and full to mostly sun. Plants will tolerate some shade but foliage won’t be as dense. Grows well in full sun to part shade. Can be pruned regularly for shaping or use in cooking.

I started my creeping rosemary in a tall clay pot. I’m pleased with the quality of the plant I received. This type of rosemary was hard to find in my area stores. I was glad to find it at Wilson Brothers.
